Ascension and Holy Trinity has called John Thexton Ph.D. to serve as Rector. He brings over 26 years of ministry experience, having walked alongside small, medium, and large congregations, and has a deep love for the life of the Church.

John is passionate about helping congregations grow into who God is calling them to be—through worship, formation, and shared life together. His work has taken him across the country and around the world, partnering with communities in Christian community development, leadership development, and organizational design. A gifted speaker and teacher, he has been invited to serve in a variety of settings, always with a desire to listen, learn, and encourage others in their faith.

He holds a Master of Divinity from Nazarene Theological Seminary and a PhD in Pastoral Theology and Counseling from Texas Christian University.

John also serves as an emergency room nurse, a role that continues to shape his pastoral presence with compassion, attentiveness, and care.

He and his family enjoy time together through board games, being outdoors, and staying active, and they are grateful to begin this new chapter with the people of Ascension and Holy Trinity.
